Practicing Law in a Brave New Digital World

Length: 1 hour

Recent articles have called law firms the soft underbelly of America cybersecurity. Much of the information on most lawyers’ computers is extremely sensitive, but frequently unprotected in any way that would thwart a hacker for more than a minute or two. The explosion of mobile devices has only made matters worse. Combine these issues with the fact that technology decisions at most law firms are made by what one author calls “proud Luddites,” and you have the makings of a disaster. And we are well past the time when the move into the new digital world of practice can be postponed. This seminar will examine the security risks generated by law practice in the new digital world, and offer practical suggestions for how to address them. It doesn’t matter what kind of firm you are in, or what your role in it might be, this is information that is critical to your safety and the safety of your clients.
